According to an announcement by PIF, the partnership aligns with the fund’s newly launched 2026–2030 strategy, which identifies sports as a key pillar within Saudi Arabia’s broader tourism, leisure and entertainment ecosystem.
The agreement further expands PIF’s growing international sports portfolio. Over the past several years, the sovereign wealth fund has invested in football, golf, motorsport, esports and major sporting events as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification agenda. Notable examples include investments in the Saudi Pro League, LIV Golf, Formula One partnerships, and infrastructure projects linked to the Kingdom’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034.
Throughout the June 11–July 19 tournament, PIF and its affiliated companies—including Savvy Games Group, Saudi Arabia's national champion for games and esports, and Qiddiya City, the Kingdom's future capital of entertainment, sport, and culture—will deliver unforgettable experiences and drive innovative fan engagement initiatives to connect with the football community on the world's biggest stage. Industry analysts believe the FIFA World Cup 2026 partnership carries significance beyond branding exposure. It demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s ambition to leverage sports as a catalyst for economic growth, tourism development and international engagement. Similar strategies have been observed in countries such as Qatar following the FIFA World Cup 2022 and the United Arab Emirates through its long-term sports and entertainment initiatives.
As global attention turns toward FIFA World Cup 2026 and preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2034 continue [3], PIF’s latest partnership highlights Saudi Arabia’s intention to transform sports into a long-term driver of economic diversification, international cooperation and sustainable growth.
The firms specializing in smart-city technologies, telecommunications equipment, digital ticketing systems, artificial intelligence, large-scale venue construction and tourism services could find additional opportunities through partnerships associated with Saudi Arabia’s expanding sports economy.
